The ongoing diplomatic relations between Iran and the US remain uncertain, with Tehran making it clear that it has not yet reached a final conclusion on Washington’s new proposal.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai told state media that the US proposals are being reviewed and Iran has not yet made a final decision.
His statement came at a time when diplomatic efforts are underway between the two countries to reduce tensions and revive nuclear talks.
According to Iranian media, new proposals for the talks were conveyed last week through Pakistani mediators.
On the other hand, the White House confirmed that it had received the Iranian proposals, but refrained from giving details.
US President Donald Trump revealed in a conversation with reporters that he had direct talks with Iran, but he was not satisfied with Tehran’s position.
He said that Iran is making demands that the United States cannot accept. Trump, adopting a tough tone, said that “Iran has to make the right deal,” but he did not express hope that the two countries would be able to reach a final agreement soon.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has indicated that if the United States abandons its threatening policy and withdraws unfair conditions, Iran is ready to move forward with the diplomatic process.
Meanwhile, sources close to American officials claim that a brief memorandum of understanding has been prepared between the two countries for a formal end to the war and new nuclear talks, but a final agreement on it is yet to be reached.
