Journalists Played a Key Role in War Against India: Bilawal Bhutto

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Pakistani journalism played an effective role in the information war against India and the media prioritized truth, verification, and principles.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Bilawal Bhutto said that “just as the Pakistan Air Force defeated the enemy on the air front, Pakistani journalists defeated the propaganda machine of the Indian media.”

Paying tribute to the historical struggle of journalists, he said that journalists stood by the democratic forces in the MRD and ARD movements and raised their voices against the restrictions on newspapers by risking their lives.

Bilawal said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto used to go to journalists herself to express solidarity with them, as she believed that free journalism was the foundation of democracy.

He stressed that in the present era, disinformation and misinformation have become a weapon, which enemy elements are using against Pakistan, especially with regard to Balochistan, Sindh, and Kashmir. According to him, digital media is now a national asset, and its usefulness has been proven during the war.

Bilawal Bhutto expressed his determination to ensure the implementation of the Law on the Protection of Journalists and to legislate against disinformation in collaboration with PFUJ.
