Major progress in Pakistan’s mediation, technical talks between US and Iran

After the recent peace agreement between the US and Iran, the two countries are once again going to sit at the negotiating table. This time, technical-level talks will be held in the beautiful Swiss resort of Bergenstock, with the aim of ensuring practical progress on the agreement reached in Islamabad.

The Foreign Office has confirmed that representatives of the US and Iran will meet on Sunday in the presence of Pakistan and Qatar. These talks are being considered the first significant progress after the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed recently.

Tensions between the US and Iran have affected the entire Middle East in recent months. In particular, the situation around the Strait of Hormuz has increased pressure on the global economy because a large part of the world’s oil supply passes through this route.

There is hope for an improvement in the situation after the agreement in Islamabad. According to the agreement, Iran will keep the Strait of Hormuz open to international commercial ships, while the US will ease some of the sanctions that have been weighing on the Iranian economy.

One of the main objectives of the talks in Switzerland is for both countries to clarify how they will implement their commitments. According to experts, the success of the peace agreement will depend not only on signatures but also on practical steps.

Iran has taken the position before the talks that the US must fully implement its promises. Iranian officials say that if the implementation of any clause of the agreement is delayed, the entire process could be affected. On the other hand, US officials seem optimistic about the talks and are calling it an important step towards improving relations.

This development is also considered important for Pakistan on the diplomatic level. Islamabad has played the role of a facilitator for contacts and confidence-building between the two countries for the past several months. According to observers, this effort by Pakistan can be helpful in strengthening its diplomatic reputation at the global level.

Economic experts say that if the agreement is successfully implemented, it will also have positive effects on the global oil market, energy prices and regional trade. This could not only restore investor confidence but also reduce some of the risks facing the global economy.

The eyes of the international community are currently focused on the talks in Switzerland. These meetings will determine whether the agreement reached in Islamabad can become the basis for lasting peace and stability. However, one thing is clear: the current phase is of extraordinary importance for the future of US-Iran relations.
