Maryam Nawaz’s big step for the agricultural sector: announcement of providing interest-free loans of Rs 100 billion to farmers

Lahore: Announcing major steps for agricultural development, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given in-principle approval for the second phase of the projects of the Agriculture Department. Under this project, interest-free loans of Rs 100 billion will be provided to farmers across the province so that they can benefit from modern resources for better crop production. Addressing the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said that this project is a revolutionary step towards developing Punjab’s agricultural system on modern lines.

During the meeting, the chief minister directed the concerned authorities to make the model agriculture malls to be established in Multan, Sargodha, and Bahawalpur fully functional by July 2025. The aim of these centers is to provide all possible facilities to the farmers, including fertilizers, seeds, machinery, consultation, training, and financial assistance, at one place so that their problems are reduced and production increases.

The Chief Minister also assured that a new and modern agricultural project will be launched before the cultivation of the next wheat crop, which will provide more facilities to the farmers. He said that the government’s goal is not just to provide loans but to make the farmers independent, compatible with modern technology, and financially stable.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that farmers are the main pillar of Punjab’s economy, and without their development, the prosperity of the province is not possible. This progress in the agricultural sector is a reflection of the vision of the current government, which is based on the promotion of the rural economy and food self-sufficiency.
