The leadership of the Pakistan Armed Forces has congratulated the nation on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day and reiterated its commitment to defending the homeland, national unity and national stability. The military leadership paid tribute to the founders of Pakistan, martyrs, ex-servicemen, law enforcement officials and citizens who served the country.
In a message issued by the armed forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, congratulated the nation on Independence Day.
The military leadership recalled the struggle of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement and said that the sacrifices made for the achievement of independence are still a source of guidance for the nation today.
The message paid special tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs. The armed forces also appreciated the services of ex-servicemen and law enforcement personnel, while also calling the role of citizens who have served the country in various fields important.
The military leadership reiterated its commitment to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Along with this, emphasis was also placed on upholding the Constitution and fulfilling the responsibilities associated with the trust of the people.
The armed forces said that Pakistan’s strength lies in national unity and collective resolve. The nation was urged to promote mutual tolerance and harmony and continue joint efforts for the development of the country.
The message highlighted the need to further strengthen the Quaid-e-Azam’s principles of faith, unity and discipline in national life. According to the military leadership, only a secure and stable environment can provide a better foundation for Pakistan’s economic and social development.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Victory Memorial, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the military leadership also spoke on various aspects of homeland defense, national unity and peace. The service and sacrifices of the armed forces were also highlighted in the ceremony.
