Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has warned India that Islamabad will defend its interests on the water issue, describing Pakistan’s water rights as an important part of national interest. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan does not want war and prefers peace, but this stance should not be interpreted as weakness.
Inauguration ceremony of Victory Monument
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Victory Monument in Islamabad, the Prime Minister congratulated the nation on Independence Day. He paid tribute to the nation and the armed forces for Pakistan’s victory in the battle for justice.
Shehbaz Sharif called the Victory Monument a symbol of national resolve and the performance of the armed forces. He also congratulated the relevant authorities and military leadership on the construction of the monument.
According to the Prime Minister, the design of the monument is unique and it was completed in about eight months. He said that Pakistan will have to create opportunities for development and progress for the new generation in the future.
Clear stance on water
Shehbaz Sharif stated Pakistan’s position on water issues with India in strong words. According to him, Pakistan will not compromise on its water rights.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region. However, if India does not change its behavior on the water issue, Pakistan will respond appropriately to protect its interests.
This statement shows the sensitivity of the water issue in Pakistan-India relations. Water issues have long been an important part of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Emphasis on peace instead of war
The Prime Minister made it clear that Pakistan does not want any new war. According to him, for lasting peace in the region, it is necessary to find a solution to conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.

US and India-Pakistan ceasefire
Shehbaz Sharif also mentioned the role of the US in the issue of ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He thanked US President Donald Trump and said that the ceasefire helped prevent further loss of life.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that Pakistan-US relations will further strengthen in the future. He also expressed his desire to increase cooperation between the two countries.
Position on Palestine and Kashmir
In the speech, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s determination to continue supporting the rights of the Palestinian people. He also made Pakistan’s position on the Kashmir issue clear.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan will not forget the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people. According to him, Pakistan’s position on the Kashmir issue will remain the same.
Demand to stop terrorism from Afghanistan
The Prime Minister also demanded from the Afghan government not to allow its soil to be used for terrorism against Pakistan.
According to him, peace in Afghanistan directly affects Pakistan and the entire region. Effective cooperation between the two countries is important for border peace.
Emphasis on national unity
PM Shehbaz Sharif also stressed resolving political differences within the country through dialogue. He said that differences of opinion should not turn into hostility.
According to the Prime Minister, a united nation can better cope with difficulties. He urged the citizens to keep national interest above political differences.
