Pakistan Petrol & Diesel Price Hike Deepens Consumer Concerns Before Ramazan

Pakistan’s government has announced another round of fuel price increases effective February 16, 2026, raising the cost of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the upcoming fortnight. The Petroleum Division’s official notification states petrol prices have climbed to Rs. 258.17 per litre, up Rs. 5 from the previous rate of Rs. 253.17, while diesel has surged to Rs. 275.70 per litre, up Rs. 7.32.
The latest hike comes just weeks before the start of the holy month of Ramazan, intensifying concerns among consumers facing high inflation and rising living costs. Diesel price increases in particular are expected to affect freight and logistics costs, potentially leading to higher prices for essential goods like food and commodities.
Fuel prices in Pakistan are reviewed every 15 days based on global oil price trends, exchange rate movements, and OGRA recommendations. After petrol remained unchanged through mid-January and early February, this latest adjustment marks a significant price shift in 2026.

Economists warn that repeated fuel price adjustments could further slow economic recovery by pressuring household budgets and increasing costs along the supply chain, especially as Pakistan heads into the peak consumer spending season ahead of Ramazan.
