Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned the US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, terming it a serious threat to regional peace. The Foreign Office spokesperson has said in a clear statement that the US attack on Iran after the Israeli attacks is a blatant violation of international law, which could lead to irreversible regional tensions. The spokesperson said that Pakistan is deeply concerned about the increase in tensions in the region and possible conflict. He stressed that Iran has the full right to defend itself under the UN Charter. The statement said that further tension or aggression in the region could lead to disastrous consequences not only for Iran but also for neighboring countries and the world at large.
The Foreign Office stressed that the protection of lives and property of citizens should be given top priority and that the parties should fully comply with international humanitarian law. Pakistan urged the international community to take immediate steps towards a ceasefire and dialogue, as dialogue and diplomacy are the only sustainable solution to this crisis.
