Lahore, Pakistan – Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has announced that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is determined to transform Lahore into an “oxygen hub” by creating vast green spaces and natural forests across the city. In a statement issued, Maryam Aurangzeb revealed that a massive afforestation campaign has been launched on 978 acres of land along the Ravi River, following the directives of CM Maryam Nawaz.

“The Chief Minister’s vision is to turn Lahore into a city that breathes fresh air and offers a healthier environment for its residents. Under her leadership, we have started the process of creating natural air filters along the Ravi River, which will serve as a green belt and provide clean oxygen and fresh air,” said Marriyum Aurangzeb.

The provincial minister highlighted that the project is already underway, with 105,000 trees planted on 144 acres of land so far. She added that the government has set an ambitious target to plant an additional 634,000 trees this year as part of the initiative.

“This green belt along the Ravi River will not only enhance the beauty of Lahore but also play a crucial role in combating pollution and improving air quality. It will serve as a natural oxygen hub, benefiting millions of residents,” Aurangzeb explained.

The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable urban development. Lahore, which has been grappling with severe air pollution in recent years, is set to become a model city for green initiatives under the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz.

Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized that the project reflects the government’s commitment to creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for future generations. “This is not just about planting trees; it’s about transforming Lahore into a city that prioritizes the well-being of its people. We are determined to make this vision a reality,” she said.
