Punjab Govt. Allows Basant Celebration After 25 Years

A historic announcement has come out in Punjab, where the provincial government has officially given permission to celebrate Basant after 25 years. According to sources, this festival of colours, happiness and cultural heritage will be celebrated with special arrangements across the province on February 6, 7 and 8.

Official sources say that strict rules and regulations have been prepared for Basant this time. Special QR codes will be issued on kites and strings, which is aimed at preventing illegal metal or chemical strings. The provincial administration has made it clear that aerial firing, rioting or lawlessness will not be allowed in any case.

According to officials, with the return of Basant, the security plan has also entered its final stages, while the district administration has been instructed to take immediate action against any violation.

It may be recalled that the Punjab government had also issued a conditional ordinance for celebrating Basant in recent weeks, lifting the ban on kite flying, which includes imprisonment and fines. According to the ordinance, children under the age of 18 will not be able to fly kites and in case of violation, the parent or guardian will be held responsible.

Citizens have welcomed the return of Basant in Punjab, however, the administration has made it clear that the festival can only be celebrated within the ambit of the law.
