Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has shortlisted 5 names for the appointment of opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and sent them to founding chairman Imran Khan.
According to party sources, the names of Moin Riaz Qureshi, Ali Imtiaz Warraich, Ijaz Shafi, Sheikh Imtiaz and Rana Shahbaz have been finalized after consultation with the political committee. These names have been sent to the founding PTI so that he can choose one after consultation in the next meeting.
Sources say that Imran Khan will consult on these names during a meeting with his lawyers or family, after which the final candidate for the opposition leader will be announced.
The PTI leadership is of the opinion that the election of the opposition leader will enable the party to effectively represent itself in the assembly and a strategy can be formulated to give a full response to the government’s policies.
