A public holiday declared on Saturday, November 9

The Government of Pakistan has declared a public holiday on Saturday, November 9, 2025, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, all government and semi-government institutions, educational institutions and government offices will remain closed on that day. Iqbal Day will be celebrated with national enthusiasm across the country so that the nation can pay tribute to its national poet.

This year, November 9 falls on a Saturday, due to which the public will get a two-day recreational break, including a Sunday holiday. Citizens will be able to benefit from Allama Iqbal’s thoughts and philosophy of self by participating in various events, poetry readings and speeches.

Literary, intellectual and cultural programmes will be organised by various government and private institutions across the country, in which Iqbal’s ideas, national awareness and unity of the Muslim Ummah will be highlighted.
