The National Disaster Management Authority has issued an emergency alert in view of a possible heatwave across the country and has directed all relevant institutions to take immediate measures.
According to the agency, temperatures are likely to be higher than normal during May and June, which may lead to an increase in heatstroke and other medical problems.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also confirmed severe heat.The NDMA has directed that special arrangements be made for heatstroke patients in hospitals and water and other facilities be provided in public places.
In addition, the relevant institutions have also been instructed to remain alert in view of the risk of fires in forests and urban areas.
Citizens have been instructed to drink plenty of water, avoid the sun, and consult a doctor immediately if symptoms appear.
