Ishaq Dar’s stern message to India: tampering with the Indus Waters Treaty

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has warned India that any attempt to tamper with the Indus Waters Treaty or stop the flow of water to Pakistan would be considered an act of war.

In a media interview, Ishaq Dar made it clear that Pakistan would not compromise on its defense balance and sovereignty. He said that we have proved our equality; now both countries should come to serious negotiations to solve the problems.

He said Pakistan has always been in favor of comprehensive dialogue, but no progress is possible without a positive response from India. According to Ishaq Dar, delay in such critical matters will not only harm Pakistan or India but the entire region.

Nations have to take serious decisions on time, like we did on the night of May 9. In response to a question, he also described the possible role of US President Donald Trump as important and said that the main cause of tension in the region is the Kashmir issue, whose resolution is inevitable.
