Pakistan celebrated its 79th Independence Day with national spirit on Friday. Flag hoisting, rallies and special events were organized in various cities of the country.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital. A 21-gun salute was given in the provincial capitals. A changing of the guards ceremony was also held at the Quaid-e-Azam shrine in Karachi.
Citizens hoisted the national flag in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and other major cities. Families and youth participated in the celebrations at many places.
The atmosphere of celebration was evident at important places, including Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore. Citizens also participated in the National Day activities in large numbers in Karachi.
Government and private institutions held flag-hoisting ceremonies in various cities of Punjab. National anthems and national songs were also performed in educational institutions and public places.
In Sindh, apart from Karachi, national flags were also hoisted in other cities. Citizens celebrated Independence Day through rallies and various programmes.
In Balochistan, celebrations were held in various areas, including Chaman, Kohlu, Hub, Qila Abdullah and Pishin. National Day activities were also ongoing in Gwadar, Ziarat, Naseerabad and Khuzdar.
In Nokundi, youth expressed national solidarity with a long national flag. This activity saw significant participation of youth.
Independence Day celebrations were also held in various cities and institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speakers emphasised the need for national unity and national development.
Flag hoisting and other programmes were held at various places in Gilgit-Baltistan. Tributes were also paid to the martyrs who made sacrifices for Pakistan during the celebrations.
Various activities were also organised in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Independence Day. Children in Muzaffarabad took out a rally at Barar Kot.
A cake was cut on the occasion of Independence Day at the Divisional Teaching Hospital in Mirpur. Tree plantation was also done in the hospital premises.
Citizens in Neelam, Samahni, Nakiyal and Bhimber, among other areas, participated in National Day celebrations. People also offered special prayers for the security and prosperity of the country.
Tribute to the martyrs was a prominent aspect in the Independence Day activities. Speakers at various events remembered those who made sacrifices for national security.
The national flag and the green and white colours were prominent in the celebrations across the country. Citizens also decorated their homes, vehicles and business centres with national flags.
Fireworks at midnight in Islamabad further highlighted the festive atmosphere. Citizens also participated in celebrations on the streets and public places in different cities.
The President and the Prime Minister called unity, peace and development important in their Independence Day messages. The government leadership also emphasised collective efforts to address national issues.
