PCB Announces Major Progress on ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Preparations

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are advancing smoothly, with significant upgrades nearly complete at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi. These enhancements are set to ensure both venues are fully ready to host matches for the prestigious tournament, with the PCB assuring fans that the renovations will meet deadlines.

In a proactive move, the PCB has decided to shift the upcoming tri-nation ODI series—featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa—to the newly upgraded Gaddafi Stadium and National Bank Stadium, originally planned for Multan. This relocation showcases the board’s confidence in the newly improved facilities and its ability to provide a world-class experience for all stakeholders.

Significant upgrades at Gaddafi Stadium include an expanded seating capacity of 35,000, the installation of new seating, and the addition of 480 modern LED lights to enhance broadcast quality. Moreover, two large digital replay screens are set to be installed next week. Additionally, a newly built hospitality enclosure for players and officials will be fully operational by January 25. These developments are aimed at providing an unparalleled experience for fans, players, and officials alike.

Similarly, National Bank Stadium has undergone substantial improvements, such as a new hospitality enclosure for players and officials at the University End, 350 LED lights to improve broadcast visibility, and the installation of 5,000 new chairs for the comfort of spectators. The stadium also now boasts two operational digital replay screens.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is receiving minor upgrades, including the installation of 10,000 new seats and the addition of two digital replay screens.

The entire renovation process is being overseen by renowned curator Tony Hemming, who ensures that the grounds remain in optimal condition. The PCB has allocated over 250 workers to meet the January 25 deadline, and the board is confident that these improvements will elevate the spectator experience and further cement Pakistan’s reputation as a top-tier host for international cricket events.
