ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has formally launched the process of digitalization to align the country’s economy with the demands of modern times. In this regard, it was decided in the meeting held under his chairmanship that all the relevant ministries and institutions will immediately start working on this agenda, while an active working group will also be formed.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that building the country’s economy on modern lines is the need of the hour, and the government is taking serious steps in this regard. He stressed that the elimination of the informal and undocumented economy is the cornerstone of the reform agenda, without which financial transparency and sustainable development are not possible.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahad Cheema, Ali Pervez Malik, and Shaza Fatima Khawaja; State Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani; Governor of the State Bank Jamil Ahmed; and other concerned officials. The participants deliberated at length on various aspects of the digital transformation of the economy, technological issues, and weaknesses of the existing system.
According to officials, the process will be completed in a phased manner, including a framework for transitioning financial institutions, tax networks, business activities, and the banking system to a digital format. The government believes that this step will not only improve the economy Rather, the confidence of investors will also be restored, and the people will get the benefit of a transparent system.
