Punjab government decides to impose sanitation fee, fee up to Rs 5,000 in commercial areas

Lahore: The Punjab government has officially decided to impose sanitation fee across the province. According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Local Government Department, this fee will range from Rs 200 to Rs 5,000, depending on the nature of the residential or commercial property.

The spokesperson said that “the fee in residential areas will be relatively low while in commercial areas it will be higher.”

Elaborating further, he said, “The billing system will be made completely digital, however, the bills will be sent in printed form for the first two months.”

The Punjab government aims to collect Rs 15 billion under this system in the first year to improve local government services.

According to the spokesperson, this initiative will not only improve the sanitation system but also provide timely and quality facilities to the public.
