Sugar price slightly reduced;  Common man still waiting for relief

Islamabad: According to the latest data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, there has been a slight decrease in the price of sugar in the country, but in many cities, sugar is still being sold at Rs 190 per kg, which is a worrying situation for the common citizen.

The average price of sugar across the country has been recorded at Rs 178.67 per kg, while the maximum price of sugar in Karachi, Peshawar and Bahawalpur remains at Rs 190 per kg.

The official price of sugar in Islamabad is Rs 172, while in most areas of Punjab it is Rs 173.

If we look at the annual comparison, the average price of sugar last year was Rs 146.75 per kg, which means an increase of more than Rs 30 in a year.

Experts say that despite the government fixing the ex-mill price of sugar at Rs 165, complete stability has not yet come in the market.
