Islamabad, Pakistan— State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry has stated that Afghan nationals holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards will not face any difficulties until June 30. His statement came during a meeting with an Afghan delegation led by Afghan Minister of Commerce Haji Nooruddin.
The meeting was attended by the Afghan Minister for Refugees, the Afghan Ambassador, and other senior officials, while Pakistan was represented by Secretary of the Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha. During this meeting, detailed discussions were held on transit trade between the two countries, the repatriation of Afghan nationals, and other important issues.
State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that the relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are fraternal and Pakistan has always supported the Afghan people. He stated that Pakistan has served Afghan residents for the past several decades, and this will continue in the future. Talal Chaudhry emphasized that every possible facility will be provided for the return of Afghan residents, and for this purpose, more than 50 transit camps have been established across the country.
He further added that Pakistan has also established complaint cells to protect Afghan residents from any unpleasant incidents. Talal Chaudhry explained that the purpose of the “one document regime” is to ensure that no person resides in Pakistan without legal documents.
Talal Chaudhry stated that Afghans holding POR cards will not face any difficulties until June 30. He mentioned that an Afghan delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister, will soon visit Pakistan to discuss bilateral security and trade issues.
The Afghan delegation expressed their desire to further strengthen relations with Pakistan during the meeting and thanked Pakistan for its hospitality towards Afghan citizens over the past 40 years. Afghan officials stated that they wish to further enhance security and trade matters with Pakistan.
